The Issues To Consider Prior To Hair Transplantation
Use of blood thinners such as aspirin should be ceased one week before the operation.
Use of alcohol shall be ceased one week before the operation.
Use of caffeinated drinks should be ceased a few days before the operation.
The patient should have had breakfast in the morning of the operation day.
The patient should wear a wide collar T-shirt or a shirt to make sure that it would be easy to get dressed and undressed.
The patient may smoke before the operation.
The hair should be clean and free from any kind of hair-styling products.
Post-Operative Care
Operation area should be protected against impact and friction for 72 hours after the operation.
When sleeping, the position of the operation area should be as instructed.
In order to eliminate any swelling on the face due to local anesthesia, you should refrain from bending forward or looking at the phone for a long time in face-up position.
To prevent edema, you should refrain from salty foods for a few days, drink lots of water and use medicine (as instructed by our clinic) to discharge edema
You should be careful when getting dressed and try not to touch the transplantation area.
You should wear bonnet in open areas for two days after the operation in order to protect the transplanted hair from external factors such as dust or wind. You don’t need to wear a bonnet in indoor areas.
You shouldn’t swim at the sea or pool for 1 month after the operation.
You shouldn’t do sports for 1 month after the operation.
You shouldn’t apply any chemical product on your hair (such as shampoos, hair conditioners, lotions etc.) unless recommended by your physician.
You shouldn’t use hair drier for 1 month after the operation.
Women shouldn’t use high-heat generating devices such as hair driers, hair straightening irons or curling irons.
The things to refrain from in the first 72 hours after eyebrow transplantation
In eyebrow transplantation operation, particularly women wearing a headscarf should make sure that the headscarf doesn’t touch the eyebrows.
The patient shall avoid eyebrow area when washing face especially within the first 72 hours after the operation and shall refrain from friction.
The things to refrain from in the first 72 hours after beard transplantation
After a beard transplantation process, the mouth shouldn’t be opened too much when eating food. Fast food should be avoided for a few days.
Objects such as toothbrush should be kept away from the transplantation area.
Phone should be kept away from the transplantation area when talking.
You should lie on your back when sleeping.
Operation areas should be protected against impact.
How to wash the operation area?
The first washing of the operation area should be done by our specialist transplantation team in our clinic.
Hair should be washed twice for fifteen days following the first washing.
You should wash your hair with soft moves and you shouldn’t apply pressure on hair in the first ten days. Then you should wash by applying pressure to descale the scars until the fifteenth day.
The special hair transplantation lotion and shampoo provided by our clinic should be used for washing.
You should first apply the foam or lotion to the donor area (back of the neck or beard). You can touch the area as much as you wish.
You should apply the product to the transplantation area with light moves, without causing any friction or leaving any area out. You should keep the foam or lotion on the area for 15 to 20 minutes.
You should rinse the area afterwards.
The water should not be plenty or pressurized. It is necessary for you to keep your hand between your hair and the flowing water and protect your hair from the direct contact of the majority of the flowing water.
You should use shampoo after rinsing.
You should froth the shampoo with your hand and apply it on the transplantation area with minimal pressure. Then, you should rinse as instructed.
Water should be warm.
In the first fifteen days, washing should be done as instructed. Your hair will be examined in our clinic on the fifteenth day and you will be instructed accordingly.
